Growing up I was involved in ballet, power tumbling, and swimming. Tumbling gave me the strength and courage to be inverted, dance gave me grace, and swimming taught me to breathe. When I took my first formal yoga class in 1997, as a college dance major, I found that the practice wrapped all of these up into one package for me. But more importantly I found a sense of serenity and acceptance of myself. After finishing my MFA in dance in 2005 I moved to NYC and found that I needed a practice to remain sane in the hum of the city. This propelled me to complete my yoga teacher training in 2007 at Kanyakumari and I have been teaching full time ever since. I also perform professionally with the local dance company Your Mother Dances and am pursuing my Physical Therapy Assistant degree. As a teacher I try to communicate the importance of correct anatomical alignment as a way to prevent and heal injuries and to train the mind to stay present. In order to find longevity in a practice this is necessary.
