Amelia Coffaro is a teacher and lifelong student of yoga who is passionate about serving those interested in using yoga and mindfulness as ways to manage, prevent and heal from disease or illness.
In February 2013 she was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at age 28 and began chemotherapy on Valentine's Day. Throughout the course of an intense seventeen month treatment, she became more faithful to her yoga practice and grateful for its ability to help her heal and stay present in each and every moment.
In February 2014 she completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, Indonesia with Ali Szarynski and Shayna Broadwell, and is currently studying with Jnani Chapman in her Yoga Therapy in Cancer and Chronic Illness course. Amelia is the founder of an oncology based yoga program at her hospital where she sits on the Survivorship Committee and is a member of the Yoga Service Council.
