Genie found yoga a little later in life; her previous responsibilities always seeming to be in the way. After retiring from a 25 year career in Banking, as well as seeing her children off to college and beyond, she finally had time to discover her yoga practice, taking private and group classes in early 2014. She received her 200 hour teacher training in the spring of 2016 from the Union Tree School of Yoga.
Yoga’s impact has been profound in ways she never thought possible (and honestly, in ways she may have scoffed at before becoming a yogi herself). Yoga offers a safe place to hold space for mind and soul, as well as a way to freely express yourself through movement. Her mat is her refuge where she loves to explore all variations of shapes and inversions.
Her hope is to assist each student explore, heal, learn and play through their practice. She is eager to share what she has learned from Milwaukee’s vibrant yoga community.
