Practicing an Inner Tradition in an Outer World

Tuesday & Thursday
October 6 & 8
6:00 - 7:30 pm

Yoga encourages us to go within and work from the outermost layers of our physical selves to dive deeply into the nectar of our essential Self ... but we also live in a world of family, friends, communities, rules and culture.  Placing the koshas model of self (Panchamaya model) within a social-ecological framework for human behavior provides us a way to consider how we work on ourselves, and work with others.

Good Asana Doesn't Just Happen

Tuesday & Thursday
October 27 & 29
6:00 - 7:30pm

Training principles provide a blueprint for effective, safe and smart physical conditioning that allow plenty of room for your uniqueness.  Personal progress in yoga asana benefits substantially from understanding and applying basic principles of sports and exercise training to work smarter, not just harder on your yoga mat.

Introduction to Yoga History

Tuesday & Thursday
December 1 & 3
6:00 - 7:30pm

"...History is not a burden on the memory but an illumination of the soul" (Lord John Acton). The history of yoga provides some fact, some fiction, a good bit of commentary and a lot of food for thought. Not just a laundry list of people, dates and places ... but an introduction to the fascinating texts, sages and teachings that provide lively context for modern practice.
