My yoga journey began when injury prompted it. I was a stiff, immovable object before discovering pole dancing. Without much guidance or body awareness at the time, I broke ribs on my left side from recklessly throwing my body into "Ballerina Spins," smashing the ribs into the pole until eventually the bones relented. Dance was magical to me, and the pole was my first medium of dance. I felt liberated when I danced and was not ready to give it up. A friend recommended I try Yoga to build strength and learn to move my body in a way that was not injurious. I got a gym membership and met my first yoga mentor, finding through her class that yoga was so much more than just strength-building and restorative movement.

It was a way of BEING.

She helped me to listen to the "still, quiet voice" inside that offers us all intuitive guidance on the road to health and happiness. It was a Yoga teacher that helped me to find my own guiding light through my darkest time. It was a Yoga teacher that introduced me to the concept of meditation. It was a Yoga teacher that inspired me to take control of my own health and bring healing movement to others.

I moved to Milwaukee and studied Massage Therapy, graduating from the Aveda Institute of Beauty and Wellness in 2017. Not long after, I was guided to Yama Yoga and eventually started studying Yoga here, graduating from Yama's 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in April, 2019 as a Registered Yoga Teacher.

Through my experience as a bodyworker and dancer, I have come to see movement as medicine and cultivated a perception of "tuning in" to the subtle unwinding of muscle tissue and fascia through slow, thoughtful movement and pressure. Achy joints and limbs find solace in my class as we explore the boundaries of motion and focus on release with ease.

I also own and operate Somatic Arts Massage inside Yama Yoga with my partner, Jake Booth, LMT. For a full day of self-love, book an appointment with us after a Yoga class!
